Free and Fair International Union Elections
For the last 25 years, members have voted for International Union officers and IBT Convention Delegates in free and fair elections that are run by an independent election supervisor.
The process has worked well and should continue. The Election Supervisor should be independent, not appointed by the General President who may be seeking re-election.
Fred Zuckerman has submitted a proposal to protect free and fair International Union elections that are run by an independent Election Supervisor.
Under the Teamsters United proposal, the independent Election Supervisor would be chosen by a committee of previous election supervisors. It is a simple change that will protect members’ right to vote in fair International Union elections.
